Mathew Pena (Frythm) grew up in El Paso, Texas and was exposed to various music styles and genre variations by his mother, who was a professional dancer. It did not take long for Pena, to develop a passion for rhythm and music production. He would start his music journey by enrolling in piano lessons at a young age. When Pena reached the age of 17 he recieved his first desktop, soon after he would download FL Studio and begin creating beats. He has cited musical influences from James Blake, Toro y Moi, Lapalux, Bonobo, Shlohmo.

Frythm gives us insight on his new song, “About a year ago I had a somewhat out of body experience, I was laying down on a rooftop with my partner watching a beautiful West Texas sunset. When I turned to look over at her I could see her auras, indescribable shades of orange and yellow glowed while she seemed to blend into the sunset. As day turned to night the shades of the outside world faded, but her colors did not.”
