Self-taught Synthwave musician DEADLIFE releases song ‘Downpour’

Up and coming self-taught Synthwave artist DEADLIFE has had his much-deserved share of success, with exposure on the influential NewRetroWave channel for Youtube resulting in 3.2 million streams.  His debut album Bionic Chrysalis was voted the Best Synthwave Album 2017 by MetalSucks, and in 2019 his album singularity was awarded best Dark Synth Album 2019 by fans of Russian label Retrowave Touch. In August 2019, both of his albums were ranked in the US Billboard’s Electronic Album Sales. DEADLIFE has had support from well-known publications such as Bloody Disgusting, Metal Sucks, and Iron Skillet. With a new album release on the way, he has just released his latest single ‘Downpour’.

Growing up in the decrepit town of Crewe in the UK, DEADLIFE found solace in spending his time indoors playing video games. He had a deep appreciation for the soundtracks of the video games that he played and would combine this influence in his music production much later. Before composing synthwave, DEADLIFE was a drummer in a band but after touring and much thought, DEADLIFE would depart from the band and focus on producing music of his own. With former classical music training, DEADLIFE would be inspired by the genre, as well as soundtracks. He also likes modern artists such as Disasterpeace and Justice to name a few.

DEADLIFE speaks about ‘Downpour’, “When it rains, it pours. Sometimes a lot of bad things happen all at once, we just have to weather the storm. But with that comes renewed passion and determination. For me, I don’t get sad I get angry. If something pushes you, you push back harder. You stand your ground, you know? You become the raging storm. Otherwise, the world will eat you alive. The name comes from these emotions, and also it rains almost constantly here. It’s hard not to be inspired by the overcast skies, worn down industry, and constant downpours that pepper this city.”
