LA composer Jacob Olofsson, performing as Olovson, dropped his latest single ‘THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND‘ on September 26 via his label 1136 Diamond, marking his return after a two-year break. Rooted in contemporary classical, the track showcases his neoclassical leanings. Born in Stockholm to a musical family, Olovson took to piano at seven and started recording his own material in his early teens before relocating to Los Angeles.
As a producer, he has earned Grammy wins and multi-platinum credits, working alongside notable artists such as Frank Ocean, Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, Diplo, Silk City, and Camila Cabello. His solo catalog has garnered over 3 million streams, with his 2022 debut album, Storytelling, drawing acclaim from notable publications such as Wonderland Magazine, PopMatters, Creative Boom, CLASH Magazine, Rolling Stone India, METAL Magazine, NOTION Magazine, and Stereofox. He takes charge of the composition, production, and mix, incorporating his hummed vocals that weave into the framework, pointing to a shift in his approach. Olovson shared: “‘Things I Could’ve Left Behind’ started as a melody that had stuck with me for quite some time, and when I finally recorded it, I knew it was the starting block of the new project. I sing on this song, although only in wordless melodies, which felt like a bridge from the previous record into this new chapter. The song is about letting go of resentment carried for too long and making space for forgiveness and peace.“
