Panoram, the elusive Italian producer Raffaele Martirani, released his mesmerizing album Cameos last year on the Balmat label, further establishing himself as a standout in the IDM landscape. With over a million streams and coverage from outlets like Pitchfork, Mixmag, and The Vinyl Factory, his unconventional sound has garnered widespread acclaim, including airplay on RTÉ 2FM, SBS Chill, and NPR Music. He’s performed alongside giants like Kraftwerk and Gold Panda at Sònar Festival, and as a member of Amen Dunes, he’s hit stages at Primavera Sound, Roskilde, and Koko in London. Notably, Thom Yorke spotlighted a track from Panoram’s Pianosequenza Vol.1 in a Sonos playlist.

The album’s title track, ‘Cameos’, is a hypnotic blend of warped synths and ethereal vocal layers, kicking off with a delicate keyboard motif that feels both nostalgic and alien. Channeling the experimental spirit of Aphex Twin or Susumu Yokota, the track’s shifting textures—glitchy electronics paired with fleeting, choral-like voices—create a soundscape that’s playful yet deeply evocative. Its fluid, almost ephemeral structure underscores Panoram’s ability to craft music that defies convention while remaining emotionally resonant.

Panoram had this to say: “The whole song is all about the idea of a cameo. All sounds appearing and disappearing quickly. I imagined children jumping out of their seats shouting vocal tones and flutes played by people walking by.” This imagery of spontaneous, fleeting moments perfectly captures the track’s transient magic, pulling listeners into its vivid, ever-shifting world.
