Mount Kimbie’s announcement of their upcoming album Love What Survives has been followed by the release of the video for ‘Blue Train Lines’ ft. King Krule.
Directed by Raf Fellner and Tegen Williams, and featuring the album’s creative director Frank Lebon, the video is an ode to Ishi, the the last known member of the Yana – a group of Native Americans indigenous to Northern California in the central Sierra Nevada.
The contrast between Mount Kimbie’s ambient soundscape and King Krule’s angsty vocals is near crippling in its beauty. This is another exemplar of Mount Kimbie’s unwavering ability to showcase the strength in a collaborator’s effect, while simultaneously retaining their own idiosyncratic sound.
Love What Survives is set to drop on September 8th via Warp Records. Pre-order here.
