Producer Zeb Samuels and keyboardist Kiko Continentino have released their latest collaborative effort ‘About That Time’. Samuels took Kiko Continentino‘s raw improvisation session and sculpted it into a complete song. And now here we are, listening to the result of a chance recording taken by a captivated music producer.

Samuels gives us insight into the making of the track, saying, “Originally, it was meant to be just a short improvisation I wanted to capture at the end of the record, but I recorded him for the duration of the production. I was so blown away by his recording takes that I just knew in my heart that Kiko’s stem needed to be the lead of the recording”.

Warm notes float and crisp percussions cut through. Echoing delays flit on the outskirts, all the while a supporting bassline follows the lead of Kiko’s playing. Irreverent, unstructured, and unpretentious, the piece is left to be precisely what it is and nothing more: a light moment caught on tape.
