Being that he has an EP dropping soon, producer Unpropped has released another single ahead of the project’s debut. Titled ‘Virola’ and following hot on the heels of ‘Nousle’ (we wrote a feature), the single sees the producer mining the same experimental vein, chipping away at the rigid boundaries of predetermined arrangement formulas and sound choices to form something more to his own taste. What’s more, listeners can expect to receive the EP on the 30th of June.

‘Virola’ is a dark and eerie production that grows slowly, taking its time to evolve as new sounds are gradually added to the mix, layered in a collage-like manner, one beat on top of the next. Here, a bit of distortion, there, a pulsating drone – It all comes together to form something quite diverse from anything one might find in the mainstream.

Unpropped shares: “There was a lot of resampling involved in the production of Virola, which is actually the merge of two different ideas that I had projected for separate tracks. The initial part was created with an Elektron Digitone, and it is also comprised of two totally independent lines. I was very surprised when I noticed how well both of them fit when I began to work on the transition from one to the other.”
