Luxurious electronic musician WMD released his latest track ‘Yearn’ under Natural Blonde on the 9th of December. The producer mentions the likes of LCD Soundsystem and Baths as the inspiration for his music. WMD’s creative juices flow through experimentation with various musical genres, including Downtempo and Chillwave, exercising his musical genius with a performance on the Epicly LAter’d and the VICE television series States of Undress.

As the notes progress through the song, they speak about deep longing and the need to be connected eternally to another person or to other people. The track’s tempo is slow and gentle, taking the form of a feverish plea to reach utopia or the soul of the world where only true and lasting love is found. ‘Yearn’ awakens the auditory senses to the fullest, which in turn heightens other senses, particularly, the yearning to be held and wanted without conditions.

WMD discusses the origins of Yearn with these words: “I was doing a lot of travelling with only a small digital recorder and a cassette deck, which led to me capturing a lot of little snippets of audio in the downtime between drives. I wanted to write a song that was a tapestry of sounds from those recordings”.
