Ambient-electronic producer and film score composer, Mattia Cupelli has released his latest single ‘ONWARDS’ on July 23rd via MC Records. Since our last feature on Cupelli’s ‘MONO NO AWARE’, released June 20th, he has released ‘KOGORASHI’, premiered by CLASH Magazine on July 4th. ‘ONWARDS’ is the final single set to drop ahead of the release of his UNDERNEATH LP on August 8th via MC Records.
While the track begins off slow and deliberate, there is a sense of comfort in the tempo, a knowledge of what is to come. Halfway through the song, we are treated to a passage of off-kilter drums that turn up the intensity, and pave the way for the hypnotizing vocal harmonies to come, before ‘ONWARDS’ rides out on a carpet of thick bass and a heartbeat of drums fading into the distance.
With a strong background in music theory, the Italian producer also carries a passion for both film and art, his sound is a synthesis of modern and traditional, and he uses electronic music’s endless possibilities to create sonic collages of human emotion.
Speaking of the track Cupelli comments: “‘ONWARDS’ is the last track of the album and is a new beginning to the next sound of Mattia Cupelli that will be explored in the future.”
