Indie pop powerhouse Milena Galasso has unveiled a new track, cold’, released on January 12, 2024. Despite being active in the industry for less than a year, the London-based singer-songwriter has amassed over 130,000 Spotify streams and has filled unique live music venues across the UK, including the O2 Academy Islington, The Fiddler’s Elbow, and The Victoria. She has received media support from Pop Passion Blog, who assert that she “brings a fresh, timeless energy to the highly sought-after pop music scene”. ‘cold’ offers us a taste of Milena’s upcoming debut EP, i hope you’re having fun, recorded at the legendary Angel and Abbey Road Studios, set to release in the first half of 2024.

‘cold’ is a heartbreaking ode to the anguish of living as a woman or girl in a world rife with gender-based violence. Milena’s vocals are brimming with emotion as her haunting lyrics explore this dark side of the world. The second verse contains the line, “boys will be men”, a reference to Dua Lipa’s track ‘Boys Will Be Boys’. Here, she feels hopeful but ultimately knows that this is an issue that we will never be completely free from – a potent reflection on social issues faced across the globe.

Milena commented: “I was stuck, because no matter how angry I felt, I still wanted to feel hopeful, but luckily, I found a new angle by showing the song to my good friend and co-writer Phil Boothroyd. Together, we considered my own and my friends’ experiences and structured the song in a way that is true to both myself and to them.”
