Earlier this year, 29-year-old producer Kooma shared a record titled ‘Subliminal’. The track was was in a different vein than the musician usually hangs around. Bringing things back to his style, the musician has released a new track in a similar sound palette as his 2022 mixtape, Freefall, which we covered here.

Titled ‘Hydra’, his new offering rides foaming waves of analogue warmth, saturated synth stutters, and crisp ‘n crackling percussive elements. A strong chord progression acts like a topline melody, giving the record its catchiness, its memorable motif, so to speak.

Kooma is a Finnish music producer with a taste for sound design. With a diverse range of inspirations ranging from Linkin Park to Flume, he has concocted a brand of music that has aired on YleX, Radio Helsinki, featured on the Youtube channel Ambient, and charted on Spotify’s Viral Charts.
