Journey, Reflection, and Liberation: Eluize Releases Deeply Personal Third Album “Believe”

Australian electronic musician Eluize released her third album, Believe, this past Friday. She created much of it during the toughest days of the pandemic, while expecting her second son in her Kreuzberg studio. Each day, she walked through the snow to a brick basement, using music to process what was happening and to look ahead. The album took shape as she moved her family across continents, marking the end of an important chapter in her life. For years, the album stayed unreleased. Support from Creative Australia, the country’s main arts organization, helped bring it to the public. The artwork is by Daria Healy-Koljanin. Mixdowns were done on Fleeting Forever, with Xtra Large Mixing and Mastering working on ‘RNA’ and ‘Captive’, and Ten Eight Seven doing the final mastering.

Believe moves fluidly between introspective moments and bursts of communal energy, maintaining an organic flow throughout. The first few tracks are marked by Eluize’s signature airy vocals and winding melodies, exploring themes of distrust, escapism, and addiction against a backdrop of driving percussion, acid-tinged textures, luminous synths, and immersive ambient layers. The album’s mood shifts with ‘Light‘, which introduces a sense of hope, before ‘Believe‘ and ‘Captive‘ accelerate into club-ready energy, channeling movement and a spirit of rebellion. Electronic breaks punctuate ‘Impatience’ and the effervescent ‘Serendipity’, while closing track ‘RNA‘ weaves together melancholy, optimism, and the solace of returning home.

Eluize shared: “I wrote ‘Believe‘ in the height of the pandemic, while pregnant with my second son, in my studio in Kreuzberg. I would walk the quarter block through the snow to a musty, brick basement, to lose myself in sound, to reflect and imagine what would become of it all. I finished the music as I moved my family across the globe, and without realising it, through the ending of an immensely pivotal chapter of my life. Then it sat, for years, stuck. With great joy and relief, it’s finally time to release my white-knuckled grip and let it go. I hope it is helpful to some of you, wherever and whenever you are. Love E xo.
