New dreamy ambient album from Ontario’s Alaskan Tapes

Brady Kendall (better known as Alaskan Tapes) bases his writing on his experiences growing up in Ontario, Canada. Although he did not hail from a musical family his work acts as a sonically mirroring his surroundings. He has experienced success of millions of hits across digital streaming platforms (with over 20 million hits on Spotify alone) His 2018 music video for ‘Places’ (written and directed by Andrew De Zen) was nominated for the Juno Awards Best Video of The Year in 2019 and was featured as one of the 15 Best Music Videos of 2018 on NOWNESS and Boooooooom’s list.

Alaskan Tapes has offered us the most sublime chill with the latest album Views From Sixteen Stories released via AT Recordings on September 19th. The prolific ambient artist and producer has released an LP beautifully crafted with delicate textures to create something hauntingly breathtaking. On Views From Sixteen Stories, you will experience a spellbinding almost haunting soundscape with sensuous melodies, drones, and alluring textures.  Inspired by the likes of Stars of the Lid, Taylor Deupree and Luke Howard, the LP was surprisingly conceived while listening predominantly to post-rock.

Canadian born Alaskan Tapes gives insight into the creative process of his latest LP, “I was listening to post-rock very heavily, which made me want to make something in the same vein, but still have all the benefits of an ambient album.” Kendall professed, “This is the product of that mindset, a collection of minimal compositions, drawn-out patterns, and drones wherever they will fit.
