Packed with a  backstory of intrigue and suspense, music producer Greg Kozo has unveiled his EP The Story of Rita Faltoyano via Enchanté Records. The EP is noticeably funk-laden, probably due to the fact that the musician previously played bass in funk bands. On the other hand, one can also pick up a sinister electronically-infused core that hovers over this vibrant work.

Greg Kozo shares the story behind his artistic motivation on this work: “I was in a taxi one night. The driver started to tell me this story of a woman called Rita Faltoyano who was driving an old Mustang in Las Vegas trying to escape the mafia. He told me that eventually, she killed the guys who were chasing after her. When I arrived home, I checked online to see if this story was real or not, and I discovered that Rita Faltoyano was an X-rated actress without any problem with the mafia and who had never killed anybody. It stayed in my mind as the story of Rita Faltoyano.”

Clearly a fabricated story,  the producer remained intrigued and gripped by the lie that was told with so much panache about this charming actress and femme fatale who killed mafia men. The result of his realization was not in vain thankfully, and instead, he turned this story into a delectable blend of retro textures, sonically ominous embellishments, and house grooves. One’s mind can easily be haunted by the story and chilling production from start to finish.
