With a desire to create a work with playful elements and ambient elements incorporated, electronic musician Calcou has shared his latest single ‘Below’ via MFRD+C. This delightfully production-focused track sees Calcou explore the ever-evolving genre vine of electronica, and he does so with grace and effortless charm.

The German-based composer has an extensive background in jazz music and channels the genre’s laidback and calming tone in his overall sound. A culmination of warm but breathable arrangements and subtle vocal echos are involved in the making of this single which will feature on the composer’s upcoming EP Places. The EP is slated for official release on the 20th of May via MFRD+C. A song that exudes a calm and refreshing mood, we have no doubt that the forthcoming release will be just as invigorating.

The producer elaborates on the production process for ‘Below’: “This time I tried to explore space – musically, but also in a broader sense as a feeling of restriction. By leaving certain musical decisions to algorithms, I tried to overcome these restrictions with playfulness and randomness, acknowledging the fact that control seems like an illusion now more than ever…”
