Deerhoof release second song from upcoming album ‘Mountain Moves’

Deerhoof have released another single from their upcoming album Mountain Moves, set to drop on September 8th via Joyful Noise Recordings.

Deerhoof is John Dieterich, Satomi Matsuzaki, Ed Rodriguez and Greg Saunier.  The album consists of 12 originals and 3 covers, featuring collaborations with Stereolab’s Læticia Sadier, Juana Molina, Xenia Rubinos, Matana Roberts, as well as inviting a  myriad guests to participate, some of them friends, others strangers – all of different ages, races and backgrounds. Melodies and vocals were sent via email, resulting in an overwhelming response of suggestions for arrangements, alternate harmonies, and additional instrumentation.

The first single to be released from the album was ‘I Will Spite Survive (ft. Jenn Wasner)’ and most recently ‘Your Dystopic Creation Doesn’t Fear You (ft. Awkwafina)’ was shared.

Described by Joyful Noise’s Kurt B. Reighley “If Mountain Moves were a movie, it would be a double feature, Journey to the Center of the Deerhoof and Escape from Planet Deerhoof, shown side-by-side simultaneously. The record epitomizes the band at its very best, exploring new realms between the poles of independence and invention. It also serves as a welcoming point of entry for new listeners outside Deerhoof’s traditional orbit, an opportunity to bring even more voices into the communal conversation. We’re all in this together.”
